Cheltenham College seeks a gardener/horticulturist on a fixed-term contract starting in March/April ’22. The position is for 6 months only until September/October.

The successful individual will join our dedicated and professional gardening team that looks after the College gardens and grounds.

The role will involve hands-on tasks, manual handling and mowing the extensive College grounds with a pedestrian rotary mower, so applicants must be willing to work outdoors in all winds and weathers. A positive attitude is essential as is a willingness to learn. An interest in horticulture would be beneficial.

The successful candidate will play an active role in getting the College ready for major events and to ensure this is achieved, some weekend and evening work will be required from time to time to take care of watering etc.

A full, clean driving licence is desired and applicants would ideally be competent and confident in using machinery such as strimmers, hedge cutters, pedestrian mowers etc. Training will be given, especially if someone is looking for an opportunity to learn and gain initial career experience in this field.
