Cheltenham College seeks to appoint a Pastoral Boarding Assistants “Day Matrons” on a term-time only basis (33 weeks) for a girls’ boarding house.

The role of Day Matron is an important and highly rewarding position, requiring dedication and commitment, providing first-class pastoral support to pupils within our thriving day houses and boarding houses.

In conjunction with the Houseparent and other House staff, the Day Matron is responsible for the general welfare of the pupils within the House including providing pastoral, medical and domestic support.

Applicants should be organised, with a flexible and willing attitude, excellent interpersonal skills and an aptitude for dealing with young people in a close environment.

College’s houses offer outstanding pastoral care to day pupils and boarders and their families on a full and flexible basis, 7 days a week.

Working pattern: 

Negotiable but between 20 to 30 hours per week:

20 hours: Thursdays and Saturdays : 7.30am to 6.00pm (with a 30-minute break)

With the possibility of an additional 10 hours: 1pm to 6pm on Mondays and Wednesdays

Salary: Will be calculated based on hours worked and a rate of £12.75 per hour. (You will also accrue holiday pay at an additional rate of £1.54 per hour with the expectation that appropriate leave will be taken outside of term time).
