Westal is the newest of all of the boarding houses in College, nestled by the greenery of the sports pitches. We are blessed with lovely light facilities that create a wonderful environment in which to work and play. Whether you are dramatic, sporty, academic, musical or of course a combination of these, you will find in Westal like-minded spirits with whom you can share your passions. As with all College Houses, the structure is vertical, with 12 to 14 girls in each year group. Third Formers will sleep in quad rooms and Fourth Form will sleep largely in twin rooms, all with nearby modern bath and shower rooms. As the girls move up to Fifth Form, the majority of rooms will be ensuite singles, with some twin ensuite rooms. All Sixth Formers will have single, ensuite rooms.
Westal's Housemistress, Jenny O’Bryan, was educated at the King’s School, Worcester and attained a First Class Honours degree in Biology from Nottingham University. Jenny is married to Ian and they have two sons, Charlie and Tom. Jenny’s passion remains horse riding along with a family love of skiing. Jenny says: “My aim is to create a ‘home from home’ where the girls feel supported and empowered to venture into new territories, whether that be academically, socially or through the enormous range of extra curricular activities we offer. As a former Army Officer, building and creating cohesive teams is critically important to me as well as the development and celebration of individual talent.”
As with any boarding environment the only way to feel the real ethos and vibrancy of Westal is to come and meet us, so please feel free to contact admissions and arrange a visit.
