Weekends

The most common Sunday evening conversation in the Boarding House always begins with “Why do the weekends go so quickly?”

One of the main attractions for both parents and boarders is that our House is full every weekend. There are a whole range of activities on offer and each term our ‘Boarders’ Council’ meets to recommend and choose the activities the children have suggest to their delegates for the following term.

After school and matches on Saturdays boarders benefit from the fantastic facilities we enjoy here. They can choose from a wide range of fully supervised activities, which range from shopping trips to town, Cotswold adventures, swimming, dog walking, playing games and sports, model making, IT, just relaxing or riding their bikes around the grounds. A headline activity is organised every Sunday. Since September we have enjoyed trips to the waterpark, go-karting, high-ropes, rock climbing, Drayton Manor, fireworks, the pantomime, ice skating, European Cup Rugby at Gloucester, Football at Cheltenham Town, bowling, cinema excursions and a Harry Potter Christmas Feast.

During the spring term the boarders have already enjoyed Oasis Water Park, Cadbury World, Mr Whybrow's trip to Joseph at the Everyman Theatre, a trip to the movies and bowling.

After half-term there will be Combat Splat Paintball Adventure, Chef School at Foodworks Cookery School and a trip to Harry Potter World.

The fun is not just for the weekends, we organise a full activities programme for the weeknights too. After tea and when prep is completed the boarders will have plenty of opportunities to relax, play and keep in contact with home but for those with the energy we will be offer a menu of supervise activities every night. Children choose from: farming club, Monday night 'games in the barn', pool pirate ship on a Tuesday fun swim and CDT with Mr Baker on Wednesday, Thursday night 'ball sports club', Friday ‘rec’ swim. We will also run regular dog walking, music, art, craft sessions and lots of occasional activities including cooking, dance and bush-craft (Bear Grylls Skills). There really is something for everyone.
