College Lawn

College Lawn is our new girls' House, opened in September 2017 and offering day, day boarding and full boarding.

Cheltenham College first introduced girls back in the 1980s and our girls’ day and boarding provision have grown with demand over the years. College Lawn will be our fifth girls’ House and brings the ratio of girls to boys to almost 50:50.

With brand new contemporary furnishings and fittings, set within beautiful Regency architecture, College Lawn will offer an outstanding experience for girls wanting day, day boarding or full boarding.

As well as beautiful modern bedrooms, bathrooms and showers, there will be a common room for relaxing, a prep room for study, House office, boot room, TV room, piano, and, of course, Wi-Fi. All our day and boarding pupils are served meals in our stunning Hogwarts style Dining Hall in the centre of the College campus – but there is also a kitchen at College Lawn for pupils to prepare snacks and cook the occasional evening meal.

One of the beautiful features of our new Boarding House, is the sweeping view across College Field, overlooking College’s famed 19th-century Chapel and Dining Hall and manicured green sporting fields. The new House is situated on a quiet, leafy green residential road adjacent to the main campus, neighbouring our girls' Day House, Queen's.

A cosy 'home-from-home' experience

Our Houses form the heart of College life and provide a friendly base for our pupils to study and relax with their friends – whether that is during break, lunch, before or after school. From day one, our pupils enter into a welcoming and caring close-knit community.

Mrs Jo Wintle will be the new Housemistress of College Lawn, and has a wealth of day and boarding House experience. She will live in with her own family and be supported by an experienced and dedicated team of tutors and matrons, to ensure your daughter receives outstanding academic and pastoral care.

Houses are where lifelong friendships are born, and there is so much to enjoy out of school hours. All day and boarding pupils can participate in organised evening and weekend events including cinema and theatre trips, Duke of Edinburgh, paintballing, horse riding, camping and BBQs. A healthy competitive mix is always seen at our very popular inter-house sporting, music and drama competitions.

Parents are actively encouraged to join in House social events when they can, and they receive a weekly video of highlights in College to see all the fun and enjoyment for themselves of life on campus!
