What is your admissions procedure?
Once children are registered, we contact their current school for a Head’s Report.
All prospective pupils should join us for a Taster Day, as part of their application to join the school. For entry into Kingfishers Pre-Prep (Nursery – Year 2), the Taster Day is our entry assessment. For children wishing to join us in Years 3 and 4, assessments take place during the Taster Day. For entry into Years 5 to 8, we assess through online tests in English, Maths, Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning and these test are used for setting purposes. These entrance assessments should be taken on a separate day to the Taster Day.
Children wishing to join the Prep as Boarders must come for a sleepover in the Boarding House as part of their application.
Based on the outcome of the above, we proceed to offer a place. Places are offered through to Year 8 at Cheltenham Prep. For entry into Cheltenham College at Year 9, Prep children sit Cheltenham College 11+ Assessments when they are in Year 6. External candidates applying for Year 7 and 8 at Cheltenham Prep will also be advised following their entrance examinations whether they have a Guaranteed place for entry into Cheltenham College at Year 9.
