Dining Hall and Prep Food

Sourcing ethical, sustainable and, wherever possible local, produce is really important to us. All our meals are home-cooked on site and prepared with fresh produce, ensuring the best possible nutritional standards.


Cheltenham College provides approximately 1,800 meals a day, seven days a week and works hard to provide menus to cater for every pupil’s needs, whether it be a dietary or religious requirement or purely personal taste. We regularly engage with our pupils to gather feedback from the College community.

Cheltenham College takes the provision of food very seriously. To that end, we are now working in partnership with Holroyd Howe, an independent caterer, whose ethos and commitment to providing great, fresh food, served by well-trained people who really care, match the long-standing principles of the catering team at College.

Founded in 1997 by Nick Howe and Rick Holroyd, Holroyd Howe operates exclusively in the independent schools market. Great food is at the very heart of their business and they strive every day to wow students with new ideas and interesting meals whilst retaining the traditional touches.

Cheltenham College is delighted to be joining forces with Holroyd Howe and look forward to the further development and exciting opportunities that this partnership brings.

We work very hard to sustain a food policy that helps to reduce food miles and provide the College community with the best quality products. Where economical to do so we prefer to purchase from independent family owned businesses who provide us with fresh, seasonal produce of the highest quality.
