Community and Partnerships

On Wednesday afternoons, pupils in the Sixth Form can elect to take part in the Community Service Programme, something that is of benefit to the College and to the wider community.

The core aim of the Community Service programme is five-fold:

  • To inculcate the virtue of voluntary service
  • To create a culture of philanthropy
  • To expose pupils to communities of disadvantage, deprivation and disability outside of their life-experience
  • To provide pupils with experiences which will support their applications to Higher Education and , in due course, assist their entry into the world of work
  • To enable pupils to have real experience of a potential career option

Some pupils visit a local primary school to assist younger children with their reading and sports skills, and visits to the elderly have always been a key feature of the programme and these are still very popular. The Young Enterprise scheme, which operates on a national level is always well supported.
